Are you too old to wear that?

Do you think about your age when deciding what to wear?

And then think “I’m too old to wear that”?

Or is that you think “people” will say you’re too old to wear that outfit? or “you’re trying to look young by wearing it”!

I have a few things to say about this, would love your thoughts too, so please drop a comment below.

First of all style has no age.

I don’t agree with the chatter about your age determining what you can wear. In other words, not because I, or you, are 50 excludes us from wearing certain styles or outfits.

Feeling great and confident in what we’re wearing is always the goal.

Your clothes are an expression of how you feel about yourself.

Now, I do think there is something quite different with not wanting to wear something because that style no longer resonates with you. It just may not be the woman you are now.

As I tell clients, as we age and mature, our style changes and we are allowed to evolve over time.

Case in point, Spring 2022 trends. I actually like several of the trends.

The micro mini… that however, is not a trend I’ll be participating in. Not because “OMG, I’m 50, I can’t wear a mini”. But more, I’m not comfortable in micro mini skirts. I’d have to spend too much time making sure none of my body parts are being exposed. That’s just too much effort for me.

I talked about trends in this post.

You can decide what you want to wear, regardless of your age.

I want to be comfortable in my clothes and that’s what I would want for you as well.

Some of the Spring trends  have my name on them and I can’t wait to rock them .

I love an open back detail and think strategically placed cutouts are fun. So yes, indeed I’ll be wearing those. They can be done tastefully.

I also like cropped tops. I like a little smidge of skin showing. Again not because of age, but I don’t like my midsection exposed. Never have, even when I was younger.

All of this to say…wear what you love, what looks great on you and what you’re comfortable in.

Being comfortable is such a big part of your style.

When you’re dressed comfortably, you’re able to be your most authentic self. And comfortable doesn’t mean  sweats.  I mean feeling like your true self.

Do you need some guidance and support figuring out what your style is? Figuring out how you want to show up now and which styles will work best with your personality and body shape?

I’d be happy to help you create outfits and a closet that says exactly who you are.

Schedule a call and let’s see what that could look like for you.
