We’re gonna make sure you have all the deets on the top shoe trends for Spring/Summer 2022.
You know I’m not one to obsess about trends nor do I recommend this for clients, but it’s important to have my finger on the pulse of what’s current.
We can decide if we want to participate in the trends or sit them out. We get to decide if we like the trend, if it fits our personality and body, and also our lifestyle.
So here we go…
First up, ankle ties. I’m rocking a pair in the image above. I am a fan of this trend. We saw it last year and I am happy it’s still going strong. I think it’s very sexy.
They usually have long ties that you can tie high up the leg, but I prefer to keep the ties right at the ankles as I’ve done.
Sexy shoes just makes your outfit. Another way I like styling these, is to tie them on top of your pants. That gives a nice detail to the leg of the pants.
Platforms are a huge trend for Spring. There are severl variations of platforms. I’ve seen some “break neck” heel heights, all the way to some much more manageable. From work-type shoe styles, to date night/party styles.
If you like the platform vibe, there is a height and style for you.
Thick or lug sole sandals are the next trend. This is a carry over from Fall and Winter, with the think tire and lug soled boots.
Honestly, I don’t know if this is my vibe, I need more time for this to grow on me. This is what they look like. This Doc Martin and this one from Anthropologie and this other one
Minimal sandals-So on the opposite end of platforms and chunky soles, we have minimal sandals. Many of us are paring back the stuff in our lives to more meaningful items. With that comes the feeling of living and dressing more minimally. The shoe styles are in lock step with that as well. Here is one from Anthropologie. Here are some others.
Coloured shoes-Bright bold vivid colours will be huge for Spring. See my Spring trends post.
Our feet aren’t going to be left out of that party! They are joining full force. Don’t be afraid to pick up a pair in a bold colour.
Pointed toe tall boots are also trending. I always like a pointed toe boot. Pointed toe anything is a much more elevated style vs. a round toe, which can look frumpy. This one is so sleek.
I’m calling this next one the Elevated sport sandal.
After two years of pandemic living we aren’t ready to leave out comfort behind. I’m here for anything to elevate the sport sandal. Here are a few that aren’t too “athletic-y” and that also have some style. Here’s one from Aldo.
If you’re into funky and comfort check out Anthropologie. They are hitting all the Spring shoe trends.
And I’ll leave it here with the final trend….The Fisherman sandal! Now this one…. is not for me…at this time. I can’t do it. The real Fisherman style is quite “obnoxious” 🙂 with the thick straps and the chunky heel/base. I think I’m gonna leave this one alone. 🙂 Prada did it here. I have seen some designers, like Tory Burch give their versions, which aren’t as severe. Here’s a red option, so we’ll see if I dip my toe into this trend!
And there you have it! You are now current and up to date with your footwear trends. Which ones will you be participating in? Do you have a favourite?

I really enjoyed this article – and wouldn’t have considered tying only at the ankle or over pants. Makes me reconsider shoes that have long ties for sure!
